Deantha Edmunds | The Rock Performs

June marks National Indigenous History Month in Canada. It is a time to honour the stories, achievements, and enduring strength of Indigenous Peoples.

In this special installment of The Rock Performs, JUNO Award-winning Inuk soprano Deantha Edmunds performs the Nunatsiavut anthem “Sons of Labrador”, joined by her daughter Annabelle Edmunds-Ramsay and Inuit throat singers Tyriekah Semigak, Althaya Solomon, and the Atlantic String Quartet. The piece was arranged by Leslee Heys.

This performance celebrates the living culture, traditions, and voices of Inuit communities in our province. Featuring the people of Nain and breathtaking scenes from coastal Labrador filmed during our collaboration with Adventure Canada, this video is a tribute to the land, language, and legacy of Nunatsiavut.
